Hey everyone! My name is Alyssa Hemphill, and I’m so honored to serve as Miss Morganton’s Teen 2026! I’ve lived in North Carolina my entire life. I was born right here in Morganton, where I spent my first five years, before moving just 20 minutes away to the small mountain town of Marion.
I aspire to become a cardiothoracic surgeon, and my hobbies include dance and cheer—two activities that have taught me discipline, confidence, and teamwork. I’ve been dancing for 12 years and cheering for 6 years. In my free time, I love painting, baking, hiking, traveling, and spending time with my friends and family.
My Community Service Initiative (CSI) is called “Yes YOU Can,” which focuses on advocating for and empowering students with dyslexia. I was diagnosed with dyslexia in first grade, and while it has brought challenges, it has also shaped who I am today. My CSI has not only inspired other students—it has empowered me as well.
I’ve written and illustrated two children’s books, “Alexandria the Empower-er” and “Alexandria and the Magic Pencil,” which have reached over 40 classrooms so far. The name Alexandria is inspired by my little sister, whose middle name is Reagon Alexandria, and who also serves as my Carolina Star.
I’m so excited to represent Morganton this year as I continue my journey toward becoming the next Miss North Carolina’s Teen!
